Site Directors

Hernan Bazan, MD –New Orleans, LA

Chapman Lee, MD – Baton Rouge, LA

Daniel Frey, MD – Lafayette, LA

We have analyzed the results of the shelf examination and ward grades for the past academic year (2007 – 2008) and there are no significant differences between the three sites. To assure comparability of experiences, we continue to analyze such data. Furthermore, since Baton Rouge and Lafayette do not have mentored small group sessions, we will implement a requirement that each site Director monitors each student for comparability of experiences by assessing that each of the 19 ‘Clinical situation encounters’ are met prior to the end of the rotation. This data is reviewed twice a year by the Clerkship Director and once a year with the Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
