Yes, the only way that one can enter the LSU General Surgery program is to apply through ERAS and participate in the Match.
Eight (8) Categorical and Four (4) Preliminary positions are offered in the first Post-Graduate Year. Additionally, there are two (2) preliminary positions offered in the second Post-Graduate Year for residents desiring further experience before entering another surgical specialty residency.
Yes, both preliminary and categorical positions are offered to those IMGs who apply through the correct channels.
The recommended score for both Step 1 and Step 2 is at least 225.
Note: You must pass USMLE Step 3 prior to entering your third year of residency. We suggest that you take Step 3 during or shortly after your intern year.
Yes, you should have at least 2-3 years of clinical experience in the U.S.
Our program does not sponsor any visas. The program does approve J1 visas sponsored by ECFMG.
