NEW African-American Prostate Cancer Cell Line-Wray006

The clinical incidence of prostate cancer is approximately 66% greater in African-American men than their Caucasian counterparts. Dr. Walter Rayford's group has isolated prostate tumor cells from an African-American patient which can be grown in the laboratory to study how cancer works. This new cell line is rare as it is one of the first of its kind (African-American) and will enable us to ascertain the molecular events responsible for race differences in cancer development.
