Bio
Dr. Vaughan is an internal medicine physician and Louisiana native. A lifelong Ole
Miss fan, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi before
returning to Louisiana to complete the MD/MPH Dual Degree Program at LSU Health New
Orleans. During medical school, he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold
Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Vaughan completed his internal medicine residency at Emory
University in Atlanta, where he trained in the Primary Care Track and completed the
Medical Education Distinction. During residency, he conducted research with the Emory
Department of Toxicology focused on opioid use disorder (OUD) and worked alongside
the toxicology team in the Medication for Alcohol and Opioid Treatment (MAOT) clinic.
These experiences were formative in shaping his commitment to incorporating OUD care
into his clinical practice. Drawn by a desire to return home and bring together his
clinical interests in primary care, the treatment of OUD, and medical education, Dr.
Vaughan returned to New Orleans to join the faculty of the Section of Community and
Population Health and practice in the LSU Integrated Health Clinic at University Medical
Center New Orleans. Outside of work, Dr. Vaughan enjoys attending Ole Miss sporting
events, working out, and spending time with friends and family.
