Bio
Dr. Lobna H. Ali is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and the Associate Program Director of the Geriatric Fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. She is board certified in both Family Medicine and Geriatrics.
Dr. Ali is a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society (AGSF) and a Certified Medical Director (CMD). Dr. Ali is the President-Elect of the Louisiana Geriatric Society (LGS) and an active member of the American Geriatric Society Public Education Committee, the Educational Committee of the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (PALTC), and the Florida Post-Acute and Long-Term (FMDA) Educational Committee.
As faculty in the Section of Geriatrics at LSUHSC, Dr. Ali serves as Medical Director of the LSUHSC-LCMC-Audubon Retirement Village. She is a staff physician of the Geriatric-Trauma Consult Service at UMCNO and the Co-Medical Director of the ANVOI Hospice. Dr. Ali is also an appointed faculty at LSUHSC Department of Family Medicine. She is instrumental in the instruction of students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Ali's philosophy of care centers on patients and their safety. She utilizes all resources to keep them healthy and active. Patient safety and quality of care are essential to improving the health and well-being of the geriatric population because, according to research, even one hospitalization can increase mortality and morbidity among geriatric patients and put their prognosis and well-being at risk.
Her aim as a geriatrician is to restore patients' independence and increase their dignity and the quality of their lives. She supports her patients in independently performing daily activities, which is one of the foremost prognosis indicators in the geriatric population. She seeks to identify patients' medical, cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional, and social needs. Her patients are encouraged to participate in the development and continual updating of their individualized plan of care.
Dr. Ali's clinical interests include Frailty syndrome, Polypharmacy, Cognitive decline, and Healthy Aging.
