Dr. Suzanne LeFevre has built a distinguished career in pediatrics, marked by her
commitment to medical education and patient care. She earned her Bachelor of Science
in Public Health from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1983, laying
a foundation for her future endeavors in medicine. Her academic journey continued
at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Medicine
in New Orleans, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1995.
Following her graduation, Dr. LeFevre undertook her internship and residency in pediatrics
at LSUHSC, completing her residency in 1998. She distinguished herself during this
period, serving as Chief Resident in the Department of Pediatrics from 1998 to 1999.
Her leadership and dedication were evident from the start, and she has since become
an integral part of the LSUHSC faculty.
Since 2000, Dr. LeFevre has held several key roles at LSUHSC. She has been an Associate
Director of the Pediatric Residency Program, where she plays a crucial role in recruiting
new residents, evaluating their performance, and implementing curriculum guidelines.
In her role as Director of the Pediatric Resident Continuity Clinic, she designed
and implemented a program that involves community pediatricians and faculty, and oversees
the ambulatory curriculum across multiple clinic sites. Her responsibilities expanded
further when she took on the role of Director of the Pediatric Ambulatory Rotation
in 2016, focusing on outpatient pediatric medicine for third-year residents.
In addition to her teaching and clinical duties, Dr. LeFevre has held various administrative
positions. From 2000 to 2014, she served as Director of the Ambulatory Division of
Pediatrics, where she was responsible for hiring new faculty, coordinating their placement,
and overseeing division activities and faculty progress. Since 2000, she has continued
to lead the Continuity Clinic, managing resident selection, placement, and curriculum
integration.
Dr. LeFevre’s contributions to pediatric education and clinical practice reflect her
deep commitment to advancing the field and nurturing the next generation of pediatricians.
