Dr. Christy Mumphrey is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division
of Neonatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She has been
a neonatologist since 2014 and currently provides neonatology services at seven area
hospitals. Dr. Mumphrey is a native of Slidell, Louisiana, and earned both her undergraduate
and medical degrees from the University of South Alabama. She completed Pediatrics
residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship training at LSU Health New Orleans.
Dr. Mumphrey also served as Pediatric Chief Resident at LSU Health New Orleans from
2010-2011. She is certified in both Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and General Pediatrics
by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Mumphrey also serves as an Associate Program
Director for the LSUHSC Pediatric Residency Program which provides training for future
pediatricians based at Manning Family Children's and Medical Director of the West
Jefferson Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She has a strong interest in student, resident,
and fellow education as well as quality improvement research. Dr. Mumphrey chose neonatology
because of its complexity, the multidisciplinary care that it provides, and the reward
of guiding patients and families through the NICU experience.
