Bio

Guido DeJesus, MD is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC).  He received a B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Psychology from Louisiana State University, and his M.D. from LSUHSC in New Orleans.  Dr. DeJesus completed his training with the LSU Internal Medicine Residency Program in Baton Rouge and served one year as Chief Resident before joining the faculty in 1997.  During his residency, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

His current academic responsibilities include resident and medical student education through direct supervision of inpatient and outpatient care, along with presentation of didactic conferences in various content areas.  Dr. DeJesus is a recipient of LSUHSC’s most prestigious clinical educator award, the Dr. Allen A. Copping Award for Excellence in Teaching.  Dr. DeJesus has also been accepted as a Fellow in the Academy for the Advancement of Educational Scholarship, and has been recognized on multiple occasions by residents and medical students as an outstanding faculty member and instructor.  

In addition, he is board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and, for many years, served as an Associate Medical Director for Hospice of Baton Rouge. From 2010 to 2021, he served on the Internal Medicine Examination Writing Committee for the American Board of Internal Medicine, including his last four years as Chair of the Exam Committee.
