Bio
Matt Foy is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC)
in Baton Rouge and Director for Undergraduate Medical Education for the LSU School
of Medicine Baton Rouge regional campus. He earned his M.D. from the LSU School of
Medicine in New Orleans, followed by training in Internal Medicine at LSUHSC in Baton
Rouge. After a year serving as chief resident, Dr. Foy completed a nephrology fellowship
at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
He serves as Co-Course Director for Disease and Therapy of the Renal System for second
year medical students as well as the Applied Theory in Clinical Medical Education
elective for fourth year medical students. Dr. Foy has been recognized by the Aesculapian
Society as an outstanding educator for the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and
is the recipient of the Allen A. Copping Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has
co-authored multiple review articles and book chapters, as well as published research
in HIV related renal disease and physiologic changes in the microgravity environment.
Dr. Foy is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
