Bio
Mitch Hymowitz is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the LSU Health Sciences Center
in Baton Rouge. Dr. Hymowitz is originally from Manhattan Beach, California. He played
lacrosse at University of Texas at Austin. He received his MD from the University
of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He then completed his residency in Emergency
Medicine at LSUHSC in Baton Rouge, where he also served as Chief Resident. Finally,
he completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Washington
School of Medicine. He returned to Baton Rouge and joined the LSU Emergency Medicine
as core faculty in 2025.
Dr. Hymowitz trains both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine residents while
staffing the ED and ICUs at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He has extensive
training in ECMO and often covers the service. He also staffs the ICU at Baton Rouge
General where he trains Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine
residents.
