Bio
Dean Lauret is the Program Director for the LSU Internal Medicine Residency in Baton
Rouge and a Professor of Clinical Medicine. He earned a B.A. in Biological Sciences
from the University of New Orleans, and his M.D. from LSUHSC in New Orleans. Dr.
Lauret completed his Internal Medicine training at LSUHSC in Baton Rouge, and served
as a Chief Resident for the LSUHSC Internal Medicine Residency program in Baton Rouge.
His professional activities focus on resident and medical student education as an
attending on inpatient medicine ward teams and staffing general medicine outpatient
clinics. Dr. Lauret also serves as the Internal Medicine site director for medical
student activity at Our Lady of the Lake. His areas of clinical interest include
the prevention of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and the outpatient care of patients with
chronic kidney disease. Dr. Lauret has been recognized by medical students and residents
as an outstanding educator, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
