Ashok Aiyar, PhD’s graduate training in retrovirology was with Dr. Jonathan Leis at Case Western Reserve University, where his research focused on reverse transcription and integration in retroviruses. After completing his PhD studies, Dr. Aiyar trained at the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research (University of Wisconsin-Madison), in the laboratory of Professor Bill Sugden. Dr. Aiyar’s postdoctoral research focused on the replication of Epstein-Barr virus in latently infected cells. Dr. Aiyar was a Special Fellow of the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society prior to receiving a Howard Temin Award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The research in Dr. Aiyar’s laboratory continues to be funded by the NCI.
