Suresh K. Alahari, PhD, earned his MS in Human Genetics from Andhra University in India, before receiving his PhD in Molecular Biology from Drexel University in 1994. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he became a faculty member and discovered a novel protein, Niscarin, which he named from the Sanskrit term connoting slowness of motion. In 2004, he joined the LSU Health Sciences Center as Associate Professor of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. In addition, he has held visiting professorships at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Rockefeller University, New York.
