Lauri Byerley, Ph.D. earned her BS in Nutritional Sciences from Iowa State University in 1979. She completed her MS at Perdue University in Indiana and her earned her PhD in Nutritional and Biological Sciences from the University of California. She later received postdoctoral training at Stanford University and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in California. At the LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Byerley is an Associate Professor of Research in the Physiology Department. Her research interests focus on the effect of functional foods on tumor growth and cachexia development.
