Perry G. Rigby, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Acting Director of the Hematology Fellowship Program. He received his BS from Mount Union College and his MD from Case Western Reserve University. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Virginia and a Hematology Fellowship at Boston University. He was Director of the Division of Hematology at The University of Nebraska, later Dean of the Medical School, and then Dean at LSU in Shreveport, Louisiana. A former Chancellor of Louisiana State University Medical Center, Dr. Rigby is now Director of Health Care Systems. He has published 150 scientific papers and abstracts, and was chosen to be a Markle Scholar. He is Chair of the Louisiana Medical Education Commission and Vice Chair of the Louisiana Health Works Commission. His research interest includes graduate medical education, physician supply and demand, and coagulation including idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura.
