Vesa Vehaskari, MD, PhD, earned MD and PhD degrees from the University of Helsinki Medical School in Finland. He held a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at the Children’s Hospital (University of Helsinki) from 1975 to 1978, when he accepted a visiting fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Hospital Research Foundation in Cincinnati. After completing a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, he became a Professor of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center. He is also a Pediatric Specialist in Nephrology at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, and his research interests include renal development and hypertension.
