Bio
Dr. Vahideh Tarhriz earned her Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology and Genetics in August 2017, graduating with top national ranking and a GPA of 3.96/4 (A+). She subsequently developed extensive expertise in non-coding RNA biology and translational cardiovascular research. In 2018, she was recruited as a Research Scientist at the Molecular Medicine Research Center, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. In 2023, she joined the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Her research integrates bioinformatics, omics technologies, and experimental models to investigate gene-mediated regulatory networks, particularly within the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and the emerging field of cardio-oncology. Her work aims to develop innovative RNA/gene-based therapeutic strategies for hypertension-associated cancers in women, with a strong focus on precision medicine applications.

Research
My research focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovacular disease and cancer, with a particular emphasis on non-coding RNA-Mediated regulatory networks. By integrating bioinformatics, high-throughput omics approaches, and both in vitro and in vivo experimental models, I investigate how non-coding RNAs modulate key signaling pathways, including the renin-angiotensin system, inflammatory cascades, and metabolic pathways. A central goal of my work is to uncover sex-specific mechanisms that drive disease progression, particularly in hypertension-associated cancers in women. Ultimately, my research aims to develop innovative RNA/gene-based therapeutic strategies, as well as precision medicine approaches, targeting shared molecular pathways that link cardiovascular disease and cancer.
