• Gain an understanding of the impact of bias in observational studies of risk factors of disease and approaches to mitigate that bias through a discussion of lung cancer and secondhand smoke.
• Gain an appreciation of the impact commercial interests can have on scientific work and on scientists in a discussion of lung cancer in nonsmokers and second hand smoke.
• Gain an understanding of the role and impact of policy decisions on the health of populations.
