  1. Understand hormonal changes associated with increases in body fat during childhood;
  2. Understand obesity-associated disruption of insulin homeostasis leading to dysglycemia and diabetes in obese youth; and
  3. Understand potential role of systemic cortisol levels in exacerbating or mitigating insulin resistance  and metabolic changes in high risk obese youth.
