Bio

Alan Paul Broussard, MD, MT, is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the Family Practice Residency Program based at University Medical Center in Lafayette, La. A native of Baldwin, LA, and a graduate of Franklin Senior High School, Dr. Broussard obtained a bachelor's of science degree in Medical Technology from LSUHSC-New Orleans in 1986. Prior to entering medical school in 1990, he was employed as a medical technologist at University Medical Center. He graduated from LSU School of Medicine-New Orleans in 1994 and completed his Family Medicine training at University Medical Center in 1997.

Dr. Broussard joined LSUHSC in 2002 after fulfilling an obligation with the National Health Service Corps. He was recertified by the American Board of Family Medicine in 2003 & 2013 and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is married to Dr. Deidre Stelly, who is also a board-certified family physician and graduate of LSUHSC School of Medicine. The couple has three sons.
