Jennie Lacour is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Genetics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSHUSC). A New Orleans area native, she received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry in 2015 from the University of New Orleans (UNO). Her graduate research in Dr. Ed Grabczyk's lab focuses on DNA repeat expansion and the underlying molecular mechanisms responsible for over 30 expansion disorders, including Friedreich's Ataxia and Huntington's disease. After graduation, Jennie hopes to continue a career of research in the medical field, in either academia or industry.
