Medical Student Research Virtual Poster Symposium 2021
Students in the Medical Student Summer Research Program, those enrolled in a Research Elective course, and students accepted into the Honors Program are highly encouraged to present their projects. All medical students are welcome to participate.
Important dates:

Friday, September 17th: Informational session to review the guidelines and what to expect from the Virtual
Poster Session via Zoom by Dr. Fern Tsien. The Zoom link will be sent to the medical
school classes.

Friday, September 24th:
If you plan to participate, please contact us at SoMHonorsProgram@lsuhsc.edu so we can send you notifications and guidelines.

Tuesday, October 12th: Abstracts are due to SoMHonorsProgram@lsuhsc.edu using the template and guidelines that will be sent to you. If you wish to reuse
the same abstract from this past summer, please let us know by this date. If you have
updates, please send the revised abstract.

Monday, October 18th: Posters are due to SoMHonorsProgram@lsuhsc.edu using the template and guidelines that will be sent to you.

October 18th-20th:
Recordings of your Zoom presentation are due to SoMHonorsProgram@lsuhsc.edu. These are 5 to10 minute PowerPoint presentations explaining components of your poster.

Friday, October 22nd: A website with all the abstracts, posters, and presentations will be available for
viewing.

Friday, October 22nd-Tuesday, Oct 26th: After viewing your presentations, the judges will contact you to set up 10 - 15 minute
long Zoom meetings at your convenience and ask questions about your project.

Friday, October 29th, 3:00-3:30 PM:
The awards ceremony will be held (details TBA). We will announce the winners who
will receive travel awards to present their research at national conferences.
