Work in the West lab focuses on cancers of viral etiology and immune responses in the tumor microenvironment. The current emphasis is on Kaposi sarcoma (KS) and the antigen specificity of tumor infiltrating or tumor-adjacent T cells. Additional work is focused on investigations of differentials in plasma metabolites, Ag presentation and B- or T cell repertoires in infection, disease progression, and treatment response. Our work has foundational implications for strategizing vaccine and therapeutic approaches to mitigate KS.
