Dr. Lee Engel Will Serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

We are pleased to announce that. Lee Engel, MD, PhD will serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Engel received his MD, MS and PhD degrees in Microbiology from LSUHSC School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at LSU as well and joined the Internal Medicine faculty in 2007. Lee is now a Professor of Medicine, has served as the LSU Internal Medicine Residency Program Director for the past three years and is Chair of the LSU Medicine Promotions Committee. He was Associate Residency Program Director for 12 years prior to becoming the Program Director.

Lee has ensured continued Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Accreditation of the Internal Medicine Program, is a member of the Council on Resident Education, LSUHSC Mentors, and the GME Committee. He has also been active on many School of Medicine and LSUHSC committees, served terms as Faculty Assembly President and Governor of the LA Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP), and has had leadership positions or been a member of several national ACP committees and programs. Lee has also received student, resident and fellow teaching awards.
