RICHARD DICARLO NAMED SENIOR ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR FACULTY AND INSTITUTIONAL AFFAIRS

Richard DiCarlo, MD has been named as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Institutional Affairs at LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is a graduate of Haverford College and LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans; he also completed his internal medicine and infectious disease training at LSU New Orleans. Since becoming a faculty member at LSU in 1993, he has distinguished himself as a clinical specialist in sexually transmitted diseases and also as a gifted educator, receiving innumerable teaching awards. Most recently, he has served as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, leading the LSU School of Medicine’s LCME accreditation efforts for over a decade. As both a LCME survey team member and survey team secretary he has been recognized for his understanding of the complex issues that face academic medicine today. He also has played central roles at LSU in strategic planning, faculty engagement, and diversity initiatives. (He will be replacing Janis Gissel Letourneau, MD who is retiring in early 2017.)
