Bio

Dr. Jaime Alleyn was born in Miami, Florida, and is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgetown University, where he was recognized as a Jesuit Scholar. He went on to complete his medical training at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.

Dr. Alleyn completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine in 2006. Following residency, he joined the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, where he has remained committed to clinical care, education, and departmental leadership.

In 2008, Dr. Alleyn was appointed Clerkship Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In this role, he has helped to shape the educational experience of medical students entering the field of women’s health. In 2025, he was appointed Division Director for the Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Most recently in March 2026, Dr. Alleyn was named the Abe Mickal Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LSU.

Education has remained a central focus throughout Dr. Alleyn’s career. His passion for teaching began during residency and led him to pursue a career in academic medicine. As part of the department’s leadership team, he has dedicated significant effort toward faculty development and the expansion of clinical services within the department.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Alleyn is deeply committed to philanthropy. He has devoted considerable time to raising funds for pediatric brain cancer through Hogs for the Cause, a New Orleans–based nonprofit organization that hosts an annual barbecue festival to support families of children battling pediatric brain cancer.
