Dr. Barry Hallner Jr is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; he is currently the Associate Program Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Urology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He was born in New Orleans and raised in Metairie.  Shortly, after high school he joined the US Army and served as a combat medic.  After an honorable discharge he completed his BS at the University of North Florida.  He received his M.D. at the American University of the Caribbean.  He then completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans 2012, where he was “Intern of the Year” for both the Department of OB/GYN and the Entire Hospital System.  In his senior of residency he served as Administrative Chief Resident and once again was selected as “Resident of the Year” for the Department of OB/GYN.  Upon graduation, Dr. Hallner advanced his training in urogynecology and completed a 3 year Fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center. During that time, he was able to gain an expert level skill set in the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic organ disorders and incontinence.

Dr. Hallner is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has co-authored several book chapters and authored/co-authored several scientific journal articles. His surgical interests lie in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and reconstruction, urinary incontinence, fistulas, and vulvar pain.  He is surgically skilled in complicated vaginal surgery and robotic pelvic reconstruction. Dr. Hallner currently maintains a private practice within the LSU Health Network at both the LSU St. Charles Avenue clinic, as well as the East Jefferson location. He is actively involved in Resident and Fellow training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
