Dr. Charles Hemenway is a distinguished academic physician with a robust career dedicated
                                    to pediatrics, particularly focusing on pediatric hematology and oncology. He currently
                                    serves as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Louisiana State University Health
                                    Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he also holds the prestigious title of Jeffery
                                    Modell Professor in Pediatric Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases. In addition, Dr.
                                    Hemenway is the Service Line Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
                                    at Manning Family Children's in New Orleans.
                                 
                                 Dr. Hemenway’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies
                                    from Middlebury College in 1981, followed by an M.D. from the University of Massachusetts
                                    in 1987. He further pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics at Duke University, completing it
                                    in 1996. His postgraduate training includes a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
                                    at the University of Florida/Shands Hospital, and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
                                    at Duke University Medical Center.
                                 
                                 His early career highlights include serving as the Director of the Physician/Scientist
                                    (combined M.D./Ph.D) Program at Tulane University School of Medicine from 2002 to
                                    2007. Dr. Hemenway then joined the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University
                                    Chicago, where he held multiple roles from 2007 to 2022, including Professor of Pediatrics,
                                    Director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and Director of the Combined
                                    M.D./Ph.D. Training Program.
                                 
                                 Dr. Hemenway’s research has made significant contributions to the understanding of
                                    the pathogenesis of acute leukemia, which is poised to enhance treatment strategies
                                    for this prevalent pediatric cancer. His scholarly activity includes securing $20
                                    million in funded research grants and publishing 30 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Hemenway
                                    has also played a crucial role in mentoring and training over 15 post-doctoral and
                                    clinical fellows in hematology-oncology. His expertise is recognized through his service
                                    as an ad hoc reviewer for the NIH on multiple projects.
                                 
                                 Dr. Hemenway’s dedication to advancing the field of pediatric healthcare through clinical,
                                    educational, and research contributions, as well as his leadership in training the
