Dr. Kirk Thame serves as an Associate Professor and Division Chief in the Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans. In addition to his academic roles, he is the Vice Chair of Community Engagement and Health Equity for the department. His leadership extends to Manning Family Children’s of New Orleans, where he holds the positions of Service Line Chief and Division Head of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. Furthermore, he serves as the Medical Director of the Colorectal Clinic.

Dr. Thame embarked on his medical career by earning his MBBS degree from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, in June 1992. He completed his Pediatric Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in 1998 and specialized in Pediatric Gastroenterology through a fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital/Washington University, between 1998 and 2001.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Thame has delivered over 30 invited presentations and has been a dedicated teacher and mentor to countless students, residents, and fellows. His commitment to education and clinical excellence in medicine has made significant impacts on his field and the many lives he has touched.
