Ochsner Medical Center

Ochsner is a 473-bed teaching hospital, and Ochsner Clinic is one of the nation’s largest multi-specialty health care groups with more than 30 locations throughout Southeast Louisiana.  Ochsner boasts a broad array of services from primary to specialty care, including many pediatric, surgical, and cardiovascular subspecialties. Our PGY2’s and PGY4’s rotate through adult and geriatric inpatient services, the consult-liaison service, and the addiction service, including working in the Addiction Behavioral Unit, an intensive outpatient program. PGY2’s also cover Ochsner emergency room call about every 10th night. PGY3’s work in the Ochsner Psychiatry Clinic seeing a wide variety of diagnoses and cover one day per month of emergency room call. Our PGY4’s also may elect to rotate through the Behavioral Medicine Unit, another of Ochsner’s intensive outpatient program. Our residents perform ECT daily while on the inpatient geriatric services at Ochsner and can even become certified to administer ECT during their PGY4 year.
