The mission of the LSU Health Sciences Center Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) is to provide an environment and resources for increasing translational and clinical research. The CTRC seeks to advance science and foster partnerships that accelerate translational research for the advancement of health.

The LSUHSC Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) provides clinical investigators with the tools, staffing and research expertise to support clinical and translational research. The CTRC is dedicated to solely performing research protocols. It is a component of the clinical research core of the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LACaTS). LACaTS involves eight major academic, research and health care delivery institutions of Louisiana consisting of clinical research units throughout the state. This component supports research activities at these facilities, will provide a center-wide Recruitment Core, and a network of clinical investigators, each employing a uniform and systematic approach to clinical research.

• Eight Fully Equipped Out-Patient Exam Rooms
• Core Laboratory Services
  • Low and High Complexity Processing
  • -80 ° C storage of biological specimens, ambient and frozen packaging and shipping
  • Nursing staff and nurse practitioner support with over 30 years of research experience
  • Study Services: Physical Exams (including GYN and Neuropathy exams), specimen collection (blood, spatum, stool, gargle, buccal swab), PK sampling, frequent vital signs including pulse oximetry, anthropometric measurements, Investigational Product storage, dispensing and administration, 4 meter walk test, and Vision (Smellen) test
  • Equipment: NDD Easy-On Spirometry, Cosmed Bodpod (Today Body Composition), EKG, Portable Ultrasound Machine, Hemocue, ad Glucometer testing
  • Assistance with Regulatory management, consultation during protocol development and assistance with study budget preparation
  • Assistance with ancillary hospital services and diagnostic testing

CTRC Research Administrative Fee (Basic)

• Study Staff Time (research nurse)- minimal collaborative activities between CTRC research nurse, PI, and/or sponsor (i.e., completion of site selection survey, conference start-up calls with sponsor, simple CRF or source document development, study meetings with PI/Coordinator/Business Manager, site selection visit, study specific trainings)
• MCA CTRC budget preparation
• Protocol Review

CTRC Administrative Fee (Complex)

• All of the services included in “simple” start-up fee with the addition of
• Completion of DEA Pre-registration questionnaire & queries, DEA registration assistance, coordination of DEA site approval activities
• Initiation of billing compliance
• Regulatory document collection/submission
• Initial IRB preparation & submission
• UMC RRC preparation & submission

Regulatory Management Fee

• Maintenance of regulatory and/or subject binders/documents throughout the course of the study
• Communications with sponsor & query management
• Updating staff training requirements & licensures
• Preparation & submission of annual IRB renewal application for continuing IRB approval (time required is estimated based upon protocol review)
• IRB preparation & submission outside of the annual re-approval application & submission process, i.e., protocol amendments, consent amendments, protocol deviations, adverse event reporting, change in study personnel, new data collection tools, new advertisements, study close-out process

Data Entry Fee

• Time/nursing services required to enter data into required EDC systems (time required is estimated based upon protocol and CRF review)

Additional Supply Fees- to be determined based upon study needs

Grant renewals will be re-reviewed for updated fee assessments
