General Neurosurgery
General Neurosurgery is practiced at both primary centers, Ochsner Foundation Hospital and West Jefferson Medical Center.

Epilepsy Surgery
Epilepsy Surgery is practiced at West Jefferson Medical Center under the direction of Erich Richter, MD. There is a state-of-the-art Epilepsy Center at West Jefferson Medical Center with monitoring and a full-time Neurology staff headed by Dr. Piotr Olejniczak.

Neurovascular Surgery and Endovacsular Neurosurgery
Neurovascular Surgery and Skull Base Surgery under the direction of Frank Culicchia, MD, neurovascular surgery is done at West Jefferson Medical Center with emphasis on all aspects of Neurovascular diseases including cerebral aneurysms, intracerebral hemorrhage and stroke. A certified Neurocascular stoke unit is available at this facility. Endovascular therapy is offered at West Jefferson Medical Center by Dr Robert Dawson, an interventional neuroradiologist in the Department of Neurosurgery. Neurovascular surgery is also part of the Ochsner Foundation Clinic services under the direction of Roger Smith, MD.

Complex Spine Surgery
All aspects of Spine Surgery, from routine neck/back pain; disc surgery to complex spinal fusions and spinal tumors are practiced by the LSUHSC Neurosurgeons at both Ochsner and West Jefferson Medical Center. Minimally invasive and endoscopic surgeries can often minimize the trauma in painful conditions. Advanced pain techniques such as neuromodulation can often treat painful spine conditions that have not been treatable at other institutions.

Peripheral Nerve Surgery
Peripheral Nerve Surgery is practiced under the direction of the world famous Dr. David Kline at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. All aspects of nerve disorders from simple carpal tunnel to complex stretch injuries and nerve tumors are managed by LSUHSC Neurosurgery.

Functional Neurosurgery
Functional Neurosurgery is practiced at West Jefferson Medical Center under the direction of Dr Erich Richter. This program has a broad scope with a strong emphasis in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Recently, The Federal Drug Agency (FDA) approved the first surgery for psychiatric indicationswith approval of Vagus Nerve Stiulation for Treatment of Refractory Depression, which has led to strong cooperation with the LSU Psychiatry Department.

Pediatric Neurosurgery
Under the direction of Dr Joseph Nadell ad Dr Lori McBride, we offer a full spectrum of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children's Hospital. General Pediatric Neurosurgery, as well as speciality clinics such as the spasticity program and a comprehensive epilepsy program exist there. In cooperation with Pediatric neurology, this creates a rich academic environment with an empasis on developmental neurology.

Gamma Knife/Radiosurgery
Gamma Knife/Radiosurgery is practiced at Touro Medical Center.
