After graduation from McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Ortenberg completed his Urology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio where he was awarded the Crile Travel Fellowship to study Pediatric Urology in London, England & Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Ortenberg served as a Clinical Fellow in Pediatric Urology at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Ortenberg has received certification as a Diplomate from the American Board of Urology as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. In addition to qualifying as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in Urology, Dr. Ortenberg has been inducted as a Fellow of the Society of Pediatric Urology. Dr. Ortenberg is a member of the International Children’s Continence Society and the Society of Female Urology & Urodynamics and previously served as President of the Society of Fetal Urology. Dr. Ortenberg is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Urology Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Ortenberg has been a fulltime faculty member of LSU School of Medicine for 25 years & holds the rank of Professor in the Departments of Urology and Pediatrics. In addition to serving as the Training Director for Pediatric Urology in the LSU/Ochsner urology residency training program, Dr. Ortenberg is the Director of Urologic Education at Children’s Hospital, New Orleans.
As well as presenting papers at many national and international meetings, Dr. Ortenberg has served as a Surgeon & Lecturer at the Asian Society of Pediatric Urology. Dr. Ortenberg has published many scientific articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for urologic journals.
