Welcome to the Hematology/Oncology Section
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Manning Family Children's Hospital offers cutting edge clinical trials for the treatment of childhood malignancies. Our eight LSUHSC physicians share a wide range of expertise to provide the best care for these children. We also serve a large population of children who have sickle cell disease. Like the children with cancer, we offer a robust clinical program including curative treatment through stem cell transplantation and novel gene therapies.
The Division of Hematology and Oncology is the only location offering gene therapy
for sickle cell in children from Houston to Birmingham.
The Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) at Manning Family Children’s Hospital
is the only pediatric program in Louisiana that is recognized by the Children’s Oncology
Group (COG) as well as the National Marrow Donor program.
We offer the only ACGME accredited Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Fellowship in
the state of Louisiana.
