Administrative Responsibilities

2006-Present Chairman, LSU Dept. of Neurosurgery: Provide leadership for the Neurosurgery department and facilitate department relationships within the School of Medicine in addition to other campus units and administrators as appropriate. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: personnel, internal governance/administration, finance, curriculum and trainee matters, as well as school-and university-wide relations.
2006-Present Faculty for the LSU Neurosurgery Residency: This position involves being part of the teaching faculty, reviewing the performance of the residents and the faculty, evaluating individual rotations, and making sure the ACGME/RRC requirements are met. Preparing for periodic ACGME site visits is also a part of this position. The program has nine neurosurgery residents.
2006-Present Faculty for Morbidity and Mortality conference, Journal Club, and Grand Rounds for LSU Department of Neurosurgery: This position involves assisting the residents with the preparation of material for the conferences and the interpretation of various clinical data.
2006-Present Neurosurgery Curriculum Committee Member: In conjunction with the other faculty, create a one year rotating curriculum for the education of the neurosurgery residents. This involves the coordination of a clinical conference, basic science conference, and extra teaching materials.
2006-Present Neurosurgery Program Evaluation Committee: Follow ACGME guidelines by monitoring and tracking: resident performance, faculty development, graduate performance and program quality.
2013-2015 Residency Program Director: Developed and implemented resident curriculum, effected milestone evaluations, performed resident and faculty evaluations, facilitated weekly resident conferences and faculty meetings, participated in monthly Journal Club, contributed to the resident candidate interview and selection process, resident mentoring (research activities, career preparation and planning). Completed resident and medical student recommendations, monitored work hours, case logs, ensured ACGME program compliance. Coordinated interdisciplinary specialty educational activities.
