Diagnosis -MRS

MRS is MRI spectroscopy, a technique in which the amounts of chemical substances in the brain such as choline or NAA, can be measured directly and non-invasively using a brain scan. If there is an area of the brain thought to be abnormal then the relative amounts of different brain chemicals can be measured with MRS and the results can be used to determine if the brain area is abnormal. If it is abnormal then the chemicals may further indicate what kind of abnormality is present (such as a scar from an injury or a tumor).
