Letter from the Dean after the Survey Visit
The School of Medicine was accredited for the maximum term of 8 years, and our next full survey visit will be in 2033-34! There were only a few findings that need our attention, and these were areas that we had identified in our self-study. We were already working to address them at the time of the survey visit in October. Accreditation by the LCME is a very rigorous process, and this result confirms that the LSU School of Medicine and Health Sciences Center are outstanding institutions that provide excellent education and training.
I again thank the nearly 200 individuals who participated in the self-study and the nearly 170 individuals who prepared for and participated in the site visit. Of course, our success would not have been possible without the dedication and strong leadership of Dr. Robin English and her staff. We owe her a debt of gratitude.
We can all be proud of this accomplishment. I am honored to serve as your dean and I am grateful for what you do every day on behalf of our patients, our learners, and our community.
