Congrats to Dr. Michelle Moore on Her Recent Appointment to Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs
LSU Department of Orthopaedics are pleased to announce that Dr. Michelle Moore, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, has agreed to serve as one of two new Assistant Deans for Faculty Affairs, effective April 8, 2025. Dr. Moore earned her Bachelor’s degree from Marymount Manhattan College with a double major in psychology and theatre, and earned her Master's degree in School Psychology and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Pace University in NY, NY. In addition, she completed her internship and fellowship training in the LSU Department of Psychiatry and joined the faculty in 2011.
Dr. Moore is board-certified in Clinical Psychology and is a Certified Wellness Provider and a Certified Executive Coach. Since 2023, she has held a joint appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery where she serves as Director of Faculty Development and developed an Executive Coaching program for the department. Dr. Moore also served as Section Chief for Psychology from 2022-2025, Psychology Internship Training Director, and was awarded the Anderson/Searle Professorship in Psychiatry in 2019 and the Mollie Wallick Professorship in Psychiatry in 2022.
Within the School of Medicine, Dr. Moore served as the Senior Representative to Association of American Medical Colleges, Council of Faculty and Academic Societies; co-chair of the Women's Affairs, Mentoring and Faculty Development and Evaluation Committees; Course Director for L1 Human Behavior and Development; faculty advisor for the Non-Traditional Student Advisory Committee and co-host of Tiger Bites Podcast. Since joining the faculty, Dr. Moore has participated in 119 local TV and radio interviews representing LSUHSC discussing mental health topics pertinent to the community.
Dr. Moore is a member of the Executive Council of the Louisiana Psychological Association (LPA); was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and served as Chair of from 2023-2024; From 2023-2024, Dr. Moore served as the guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings entitled “Our Greatest Resource in Academic Health Centers: Focus on Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development” comprised of 16 original articles.
