Biography

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Dr. Hernandez received his medical education at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and subsequently completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery here at LSU. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Advanced Rhinology, Oncology, and Open/Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill under the direction of Dr. Brent Senior and Dr. Adam Zanation. Throughout training, Dr. Hernandez has made contributions in the field of head and neck oncology and skull base surgery, with special attention to anterior cranial base pathology and complex reconstructions. He has authored peer reviewed publications on these topics and presented at several national meetings. Dr. Hernandez sees patients within the Division of Head and Neck Oncology and Rhinology. He has special interests in revision endoscopic sinus surgery, complex frontal sinus surgery, open and endoscopic approaches to sinonasal tumors, minimally invasive pituitary surgery, repair of encephaloceles and CSF leaks, expanded endonasal approaches for skull base tumors, orbital surgery, and complex skull base reconstruction.
