Pediatrics

Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist Dr. Cori Morrison was honored by the American Cancer Society during their 19th annual Belles and Beaus "Keys of Hope" Ball on September 13. She was honored for her work with cancer-related charities and civic organizations. Dr. Morrison has had several family members and friends diagnosed with cancer. She is highly involved in cancer-related charities and civic organizations, piloting the Palliative Care Program at Children’s Hospital New Orleans called the Pelican Krewe. She was also an organizing member of the Hematology/Oncology memorial service, "The Butterfly Memorial" at Children's Hospital.

Pediatrics Vice-Chair Dr. Brian Barkemeyer was honored in August with the “Master Pediatrician Award” from the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A “Master Pediatrician” is defined by the LA-AAP as “a superb clinician who over many years (at least 20* years of practice) has contributed to the health and welfare of children in Louisiana through direct patient care and child advocacy, while educating and serving as an outstanding role model to students and young physicians.” Brian certainly exceeds those criteria.
