GLMA is a national organization committed to ensuring health equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual and gender minority individuals (SGM) as well as ensuring equality for LGBTQ/SGM health professionals. GLMA recently held its annuaTiger Pride Photo 2 sml national conference September 11-14, 2019 in New Orleans. Several faculty, staff, and students from LSU School of Public Health, School of Nursing, and School of Medicine participated in oral and poster presentations, contributing to the body of knowledge surrounding delivery of health services, continuing education, and professional development of and for LGBTQ/SGM individuals.

Nanci Zhang, MPH (LSU School of Nursing) presented a poster for conference attendees at the GLMA meeting. The project spearheaded by Mirandy Li (LSU School of Medicine, School of Public Health) focused on LGBTQ elders in New Orleans through a partnership between LSUHealth, SAGE, and NOAGE (New Orleans Advocates for GLBT Elders).
 
MembersTiger Pride Photo 1 sm of LSU Health's LGBTQ Interest Group, Tiger Pride, participated in student-led training on effective LGBTQ knowledge, awareness, and ally-ship. Trainings will be held periodically throughout the year. Please email Nanci Zhang (nzhang@lsuhsc.edu) with your interest.
