Don B. “Ben” Scarboro, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and a trauma surgeon at University Medical Center New Orleans. He completed his undergraduate education at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology, followed by his medical degree at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, VA. He completed his General Surgery residency at Carilion Clinic–Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at LSUHSC New Orleans.

 

Dr. Scarboro’s clinical interests include trauma resuscitation, hemorrhage management, and improving the safety and efficiency of trauma systems. His academic work includes research in trauma systems, human factors engineering, blunt cerebrovascular injury, and surgical critical care. He is also actively involved in surgical education and serves as an instructor for several American College of Surgeons trauma courses.
