Bio
Jonathan Boraski, MD, DMD, FACS is Chief of Surgery at West Jefferson hospital, as well as a major faculty member
at UMC.
Dr. Boraski received a BA from the University of Vermont, he originally decided on
dentistry and received a dental degree from Tufts University in Boston. He then completed
training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory University. While pursuing a career
in oral surgery, he became increasingly interested in plastic surgery and decided
to pursue further training. He subsequently completed a residency in general surgery
at Tulane University before transitioning to plastic surgery at LSU.
Following his training at LSU, he entered private practice at West Jefferson. His
primary interest was in general reconstruction and microsurgery. His training in
oral surgery was useful in treating major craniofacial injuries resulting from the
industrial West Bank location. He also became a medical leader, with multiple terms
of service as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at West Jefferson and mentoring
a generation of residents along the way. He now staffs cases at UMC on a weekly basis,
in addition to his duties at West Jefferson.
Dr. Boraski arguably has the most fun operating out of all the faculty; the fun carries
down to the residents operating with him.
