The major research interests of the faculty members in the Department include: 

1. genetic studies of neurological disorders (Usher syndrome,  Friedreich ataxia, hearing loss),

2.  cancer genetics,

3.  chromosomal instability and the relationship of this instability with disease,

4.  DNA damage repair mechanisms,

5.  genetics and gene therapy education. 

Dr. Andrew Hollenbach maintains cells in the newly renovated tissue culture facility.
