Student employee opportunity

We are currently looking for a part-time student worker (Senior Undergraduate, Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred)) interested in bioinformatics and managing database. Potential projects include but are not limited to: Organizing large scale genomic, sequence, genotype and other biological data for analysis. (e.g. TCGA, ICGC, GTEX, TARGET); Data archiving in the Genomics Data Hub; Knowledge discovery and deployment in to Genomics knowledge base; Data annotation and curation; Analysis of public datasets (TCGA and TCC). We are also open to other computational projects candidates would like to propose, as long as they fit our general direction.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in Genetics, Biostatistics, and programming languages, such as, C/C++, R, Python, Perl, Matlab. The Candidate will work 20 hours/week with an established research team working on bioinformatics, computational biology and population genomics with application to cancer and other common human diseases.

PhD candidate

A qualified candidate will be accepted in a PhD program at LSUHSC and is expected to have a strong background in at least one of the following fields: bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, biostatistics, Genetics or Genomics.
