Educational Activities & Conferences
Conferences and other educational activities are held frequently throughout the year to promote acquisition and deepening of knowledge. Fellow participation is expected. These include:
- Weekly Fellows’ Conference (held Thursday afternoons)
- Journal Club (held quarterly in place of Fellows’ Conference)
- NICU Morbidity and Mortality Conference (held quarterly in place of Fellows’ Conference)
- Perinatal-Neonatal Conference (PNC)—a multidisciplinary conference for OB, NICU, and pediatric subspecialists to discuss recent and future high-risk mothers and fetuses (held the first Friday of the month)
- NICU Subspecialty Board Review (held throughout the year)
- NICU Follow Up Clinic (held Wednesday morning, 2 times per month)
- Fellows’ Core Curriculum Conference (held Wednesday afternoons, 1-2 times per month with fellows from all subspecialties)
- Grand Rounds (held weekly on Wednesday mornings)
- NRP Simulations (held throughout the year)
- Medical Student Critical Concepts Simulation (held monthly)
- Pediatric Resident Boot Camp Simulation (held monthly)
- Subspecialty In-Service Training Exam (annually in February or March)
- Regional conferences (Southern Society for Pediatric Research, LSU Research Day, LSUHSC Forum for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety)
