Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship

The C-L Psychiatry Fellowship at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans began in 2009, and is fully accredited by the ACGME. It builds upon a well-established psychiatry consultation service rooted the historic Charity Hospital.  LSU has partnered with Ochsner Medical Center to create a fellowship experience that is second to none.

The University Medical Center opened in August of 2015 and is an ideal location to train in C-L Psychiatry with a collegial atmosphere and fascinating consultations. The C-L Psychiatry Fellows provide collaborative care at the Trauma Recovery clinic. There is also the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings with general residents as an embedded psychiatrist, such as the gastroenterology, trauma surgery, HIV, or oncology clinics.

At the Ochsner Medical Center, the fellow is exposed to a different model of care, caring for patients primarily with private insurance.  There are multiple liaison opportunities with transplantation teams at Ochsner, and the fellow is able to learn how to make a consultation practice work in private practice.

Research and teaching opportunities abound. In particular, the fellow leads the medical student “critical concepts” course, where one trains medical students in the simulation laboratory on the recognition and management of Delirium.

The LSU-Ochsner C-L Psychiatry Fellowship in New Orleans is an exciting and invigorating location to gain expertise and complete your training
