About Emergent Method

The School of Medicine has partnered with Emergent Method, a Louisiana-based management consulting firm, to support the development of our new strategic plan. Emergent Method was founded in 2012 by LSU graduates; today, the firm has nearly 200 staff and over 300 clients across 20 states, with clients ranging from local and state public sector organizations and higher education institutions to private and not-for-profit organizations making a difference in the communities they serve.

Emergent Method’s impact and expertise is evident in the many accolades they have received over the years, including being named one of Consulting Magazine’s fastest growing consulting firms (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing private companies in America (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), LSU’s 100 fastest growing alumni-owned business (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry’s Company of the Year (2019), and Greater Baton Rouge Business Report’s Best Places to Work (2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023).

Their team is highly experienced in strategic planning, higher education, and health care – especially in Louisiana. They have supported long-range strategic planning efforts for some of the nation’s leading Research-1, land-grant institutions, including educational systems and institutions in North Carolina, Utah, Kansas, and Louisiana, among others. In fact, their team very recently completed a new strategic plan for LSU’s College of Science, which is one of our primary undergraduate partners, and have done extensive work in health care in Louisiana, working with some of our state’s leading healthcare organizations. Additionally, members of their team have worked as administrators and leaders of higher education institutions, state boards of regents, and national education advocacy organizations across the U.S.

As a firm headquartered in Louisiana, they are very familiar with its dynamics and opportunities and are committed to this state and its people. Their approach to strategic planning is very much aligned with how we intend to move forward with our process – one that is comprehensive in nature when it comes to understanding the many diverse viewpoints of those who comprise a large and complex organization like our School of Medicine, gathering data and trends that are informing the future of our school and the environment in which we operate; identifying best practices of other institutions and industry partners that can inform future strategies; and aligning these perspectives and data in the form of a cohesive, data-driven roadmap for the future of our School of Medicine.

We are proud to partner with Emergent Method on this effort and look forward to our school community collaborating with their team in the coming months as we develop our new strategic plan.
