School of Medicine Strategic Planning

In March 2024, the LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine embarked on a strategic planning process to establish priorities, goals, strategies, and measurable outcomes driven by the voices of our faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders who have shaped our school’s success since its founding and will continue to drive our future for years to come.

This strategic plan will honor the School of Medicine’s longstanding history and service to the health of Louisiana’s communities since 1931, while focusing on long-term priorities and setting the stage for the future of education, research, and clinical practices. Our strategic planning process will combine surveys, listening sessions, and interviews among students, residents, faculty and staff, alumni, and our many School of Medicine stakeholders to create a shared vision for the school’s future and strategic plan that we expect to complete in the fall of 2024 and begin implementing soon thereafter.

As we continue to move forward with this planning process, we will share status updates on this website along with other relevant information such as opportunities to engage in the process through surveys and listening sessions. Please check back frequently for updates.

If you have comments, questions, or ideas throughout this process, please share your thoughts by emailing us at somstrategicplan@lsuhsc.edu. All responses will be reviewed by school leadership and the team assembled to guide this planning process.
