Bio
Dr. Maluccio, MD, MPH, FACS, is a Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University
School of Medicine, where she also serves as Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology
and Medical Director of the Louisiana Neuroendocrine Tumor Program. She earned her
BA in French in 1986 and completed a combined MD/MPH at Columbia University in 1994.
Her surgical training and research included residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital,
NIH-funded post-doctoral fellowships in surgical oncology, and a clinical fellowship
at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Maluccio began her academic career at Indiana University School of Medicine, where
she served as Assistant Professor of Surgery from 2004 to 2009. She was promoted to
Associate Professor with tenure in 2010 and later to Professor of Surgery with tenure
in 2017, a position she held until 2019. Her leadership, clinical excellence, and
dedication to advancing surgical oncology brought her to Louisiana State University,
where she continues to make significant contributions to patient care, research, and
surgical education. Over the course of her career, Dr. Maluccio has authored over
100 peer-reviewed publications, reflecting her commitment to advancing knowledge in
surgical oncology and improving outcomes for patients with complex malignancies
